After the year we have all had so far, a nice time at a fabulous boating event for the community may be just what you need. One of the biggest local events is coming up soon. The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is coming up later this month. This is the largest unsanctioned boat race in the Midwest. If you plan to go we encourage you to social distance and boat safely. Too many boating accidents at the Lake of the Ozarks happen each year. Our boat accident lawyers at the Lake of the Ozarks are here to give you a few safe boating tips and the details of the upcoming Shootout in this week’s blog.
Safe Boating Tips for the Upcoming Shootout!
Pay attention while driving the boat at all times.
As we said earlier, this is one of the largest events in the community, meaning there will likely be a ton of boats in the water watching the race. Be aware of who sis around you and watch where you are boating.
Boat at appropriate speeds.
There are no wake zones for a reason. Be sure to boat safely and go slowly through more populated areas on the Lake.
Make sure enough lifejackets are on board.
Per the U.S. Coast Guard all boats MUST have enough life jackets on board for everyone aboard the boat. Not only is this the law, but it’s important for safety, even you know how to swim.
