How To Make The Court Process Easier

A successful court process relies heavily on complete cooperation between the attorney and the client. In order for the proceedings to go well, there must be a great deal of trust and respect between both parties. Your attorney in Lebanon MO will be there for you, but he’ll need your cooperation in order to set the stage for a favorable outcome.

Tuesday, April 12th, 2016 is Be Kind To Lawyers Day. In honor of the upcoming day, we’re dedicating this blog to the helpful things you can do for your attorney to improve your chances of winning your case.

How To Help Your Lawyers With Your Case
Be Honest
We’re only human; we’ve all been tempted to tweak the truth slightly in order to position ourselves in a better light. However, little “tweaks” like this can actually be incredibly detrimental to your case. Your attorney needs to know everything that actually happened so he can determine the best way to position your case. As in most cases, honesty is truly the best policy.

Give Your Attorney An Accurate Depiction Of Your Schedule
It may be hard to predict at exactly what times your attorney will need to reach you. Because of the strict time constraints surrounding most legal procedures, your attorney may need to be able to reach you quickly. If you will be inaccessible during any times of the day, make sure your attorney is aware of these times ahead of time.

Be Prompt

If your attorney asks you to review, sign, or provide documentation at any point during the court process, it is essential that you do so immediately. Attorneys typically must work within very tight deadlines set by the court, and failing to meet these deadlines can hurt your case. If for some reason you are unable to respond to your attorney’s request quickly, let them know so they can attempt to get an extension if necessary.

Do Everything That Your Attorney Asks
A good attorney will do everything in his power to ensure a favorable outcome for your case. The most important thing for you to do is trust that he is doing his best, and that if he asks you to do something, there is probably a very good reason for it. If your attorney asks that you do something (write down everything that’s happened to you so far, obtain certain documentation, etc), it is important that you carry out his requests quickly and accurately.
