Deputy & Mizell

The Shootout 2018 is This Weekend!

The Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is one of the largest annual events in this area. It is the biggest unsanctioned boat race in the Midwest with over 100 races and it attracts 100,000 spectators. The Shootout is a great event and the proceeds go to several charities in the area, including the Lake Area Rescue Teams. We here at Deputy & Mizell hope everyone has a FUN, but SAFE time. We can’t stress enough to boat safely and to always designate a sober captain. If you find yourself in an unfortunate situation and need an experienced BWI lawyer at the Lake of the Ozarks, call 417-344-8055. Keep reading for a complete schedule of the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout 2018 festivities for this weekend and for a key boating safety tip.

Boat Safely!

ALWAYS – designate a sober boating captain!

According to Missouri Law, there are two types of BWIs:

An Impairment BWI: This is a BWI where the boat captain was impaired by drugs OR alcohol while driving the boat.

A Per se BWI: This is a BWI where the boat captain’s blood alcohol concentration level was at .08 or higher while driving the boat.

The punishments for both crimes can be severe and if you are charged with either, you should see an experienced BWI lawyer as soon as possible.
