Chris Rasmussen was born in South Dakota and was raised in both South Dakota and Nebraska. He graduated from Riggs High School in Pierre South Dakota in 1995. He received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of South Dakota in 2000 with a double major in Criminal Justice and Psychology. While attending the University of South Dakota, Chris was a member of the Sigma Nu social fraternity as well as Psi Chi academic fraternity. In the fall of 2000 Chris began attending the University of Kansas School of Law where he represented KU at the National Environmental Moot Court Competition in New York City. Chris Graduated from the University of Kansas School of Law in 2003 with a Juris Doctor.
After Graduation, Chris was an attorney for the Missouri Public Defender’s Office from 2003 until 2005 when he joined the Law office of Jon Kaltenbronn. Chris practiced with Jon Kaltenbronn until 2011 when he joined the Law Office of Deputy and Mizell.
During his career, Chris has handled nearly a thousand family law cases, as well as thousands of criminal matters ranging in complexity from traffic tickets to First Degree Murder charges. These cases have been in over 25 Counties, and over 50 municipalities primarily in Mid- Missouri.
Chris enjoys trial work, and has tried numerous trials both Court tried and jury trials. He has had acquittals in criminal cases of all types including a 2012 First Degree Murder case tried against the Missouri Attorney General’s Office where a jury found his client not guilty. Chris has also defended his client’s interests in appellate cases, and most recently argued before the Missouri Supreme Court in 2015.
